International Board of Trustees

Iwokrama International Centre is governed by an International Board of Trustees. The Board directs policy, approves strategy and other major issues and appoints the Director-General. The Director-General reports directly to the Board and, assisted by Iwokrama's staff, implements the Board's decisions.

By an Act of Parliament*, the Board's membership includes:

• A Chairperson appointed by the President of Guyana and the Commonwealth Secretary-General
• 4 trustees appointed by the Government of Guyana
• 2 trustees appointed by the Commonwealth Secretary-General
• 8 trustees appointed jointly by the President of Guyana and the Commonwealth Secretary-General
• The Iwokrama Director-General as an Ex-Officio Trustee and the Secretary to the Board
