Professional Development Fellowship Programme

Introduction

The Iwokrama Professional Development Fellowship Programme (PDFP) seeks to provide young Guyanese who have completed their first degree or postgraduate studies, with a structured professional experience, working in a mentoring relationship with experienced forest conservation and management professionals.

The programme offers an opportunity for persons who have just completed their formal training to spend a fixed period of time in a learning and mentoring environment whilst contributing to the further development of the concept of Iwokrama as an Integrated Conservation and Development Programme. The PDFP will be integrated within the work programme of the Centre constructed around its business plan. The Centre considers the PDFP as an extension of the learning experience started in an academic institution. Through their tenure with the Centre, the PDFs will have an opportunity to build life skills for their future.
