Iwokrama Interns and Volunteers Programme
The Interns and Volunteers programme continues to provide opportunities for persons to gain practical experience in the area of sustainable forest management. In the six years so far the Centre has had the opportunity and privilege of integrating some fifty (50) Interns and Volunteers into its work programmes.
The Interns and Volunteers programme also promote a greater understanding of the problems, challenges and opportunities relating to the conservation and development of tropical rain forests and to provide opportunities for learning how Iwokrama is involved in addressing these whilst strengthen linkages with stakeholders and develop ambassadors of good will.
“My experience at Iwokrama has been fantastic, I am really thankful to have had the opportunity to work with such a great organization. The projects and principles at Iwokrama are very worth while and commendable. The experience here has helped me in many ways both personally and professionally and I have learnt many things that will certainly be beneficial in the long-term. I have gained so much, and I had a lot of fun in the process. Jonathan Frantz, |
The Centre receives a number of enquiries from persons across the world to volunteer or work as Interns with the Centre. In the fourth quarter, the Centre welcomed the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) Sponsored Intern Oren Mizrahi, who joined the Iwokrama Programme on 4th August, 2005 for 4 months and had assisted Iwokrama in the implementation of its Field Station Site Management Plan with specific focus on waste management and landscaping.
Iwokrama extends congratulations and gratitude to all its Interns and Volunteers. Further, it salutes the many short but meaningful projects which realized the joining of purpose and mutual learning and development.
