Research Projects at Iwokrama

Priorities

Iwokrama encourages forest research in the widest interpretation of the term, although generally projects are pursued as a result of Iwokrama's experience and assessment of priority issues. However, research projects may also occur as a result of national or regional priorities, or in the general interest of forest science. Here are the current priorities for research at Iwokrama:

Carbon Sequestration

Non-Timber Forest Products

Timber Production

Wildlife Management

Valuation of Forest Areas

Biodiversity Inventory

Community Interaction

Remote Sensing

  • Delineation of flooded forest and savannah areas
  • Forest typing and other characterisations

Monitoring and Evaluation Systems

Socio-economic & Cultural Impacts of Conservation and/or Development
